9/20/2013 0 Comments Something FamiliarLast night, I was watching a re-run of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (of whom I am a huge fan). When he announced in the beginning of the episode that Jack Johnson was to perform, it was all I could think about from that point on to where he introduced Johnson to the stage. Though I usually tune in to all the jokes and genuine moments on Late Night, this time I saw it all as a blur.
This description I just made is obviously a little bit of an overstatement, but I was still thoroughly excited and anticipating that moment where he would open his mouth and start singing in that lovely mellow voice of his. You see, a friend introduced me to his music a couple of years ago, and since then I have deemed him my all-time favorite musician. If I was only able to go to one more concert in my entire life, I would in a heartbeat choose to see Jack Johnson. With his infinitely calm singing voice that takes you to a weightless world where everything in life feels just a bit easier, and his effortless guitar strums and comforting lyrics that reassure you that you can in fact handle life's hurdles (with songs such as "Upside Down" and "No Other Way,"), I can safely say that he has helped me get through tough times and made me want to enjoy life a bit more ...Maybe these results also have to do simply with how he always seems to just have the best time of his life when he's performing live, or when you see him surfing in music videos. Anyway, it had been awhile since saw him on TV or perform in general. So, when he finally began to sing his new song on Late Night, I felt at home. I was reminded of those times in the past few years where I relied on his songs like free therapy sessions, as well as the times where I have just played his music for the pure enjoyment of feeling the sensation of calm take over me. It's nice to get in contact with something incredibly familiar to you, since life is full of changes (both good and bad). Here is the clip from Late Night. Although maybe you don't have the same attachment I have with his music, I still hope you enjoy the video as much as I did! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x14wsvl_late-night-with-jimmy-fallon-jack-johnson-radiate_news ~~MC

6/23/2011 0 Comments A New SoundWould you like a small dose of entertainment today, just to get your mind off of life's worries for a few minutes? :) Well, here's your chance!
My family and I saw this music video on the huge screen at the EMP, when we had just seen their Avatar exhibit for Father's Day (my dad is in love with that movie...). We were at first planning to just stroll through this area because we thought it was only for sitting and watching if you were bored or waiting for someone to be done looking at an exhibit...But then the four of us found ourselves half an hour later, still sitting on one of the cozy benches, leaning relaxingly against the back wall, and enjoying the music videos by Ok Go and pondering at their great effort and creativity used behind the camera! So here is my personal favorite of Ok Go's music videos that were shown at the EMP...I hope you enjoy it! ~~MC P.S. Since we saw these videos I've now gotten more interested in this type of music; I usually listen to pop, jazz and French music, so it will be nice to listen to something refreshing for a bit. :) Lately, I have gotten in the phase of playing and replaying this song. (I get in many phases--My Jack Johnson phase last autumn, the Ke$ha phase a few months later, then my OneRepublic phase, etc etc :) ). This song came out just a few weeks ago, so it's relatively new.
And when I tried looking for the official music video (which I didn't end up finding), I instead ran into this lyric video which was better than I expected! It really looks like effort and creativity was put into making it, so much so that you can be easily fooled into thinking that this is the official video that Gym Class Heroes and Adam Levine made (I'm now even a bigger fan of Adam Levine than before thanks to the great show The Voice; he just seems so nice!). ;) Also, I love this song because it's unlike the many others on the radio that talk about the same themes (love, heartbreak, etc.), which one can get tired of at some point. Even though this song does address love as its theme, it does so in a way that makes the tune stand out--through the expression of love for music itself, for the times you hear a tune that moves you to the point that you choose to admire it as well as tthe person who brought out that same aura. I hope you enjoy this video (and song) as much as I have! :) ~~MC P.S. Happy happy Father's Day! :D 6/10/2011 0 Comments Cloud-Like EchoesHere is one of my all-time favorite Jack Johnson songs that I'd like to share with you.
I have been playing this song on my stereo every night before going to bed, or I would play it as background music while reading a book in bed, before turning the lights out. In all his songs, his calming breath of a voice takes you away within a single, melodious phrase; but this particular song will relax you and your every sense, so much so that the sounds of his voice with the cloud-like echoes of the acoustic guitar may just lull you to sleep, even when it's the middle of the day! I can honestly say that this will become the most relaxing three minutes of your day. :) So sit back, relax, and press play. ~~MC P.S. And how could one not feel even the slightest bit more relaxed just by looking at the picture of the album cover on this YouTube video? ;) 5/24/2011 0 Comments BananasI have a new lovely Life au Cochon suggestion for you today. :)
And here it is: Listen to a Jack Johnson song. Any Jack Johnson song. You will instantly be swept away by his overwhelmingly calm and soothing voice, as he takes you on a vacation to Hawaii through the swinging sounds of drums and instruments, all accompanied by the lyrics that make you want to take every moment of life in your body! If you ask me, I particularly enjoy "Banana Pancakes" and "Upside Down." Jack Johnson is an artist that actually makes you think about how to look at life and all that comes with it. Thus, when you listen to "Banana Pancakes," there's a chance you'll suddenly find yourself stirring up a big batch of creamy-golden set of warm, cozy banana pancakes for you and your honey. :) Enjoy! ~~MC 5/17/2011 0 Comments Honey LavenderBonjour! I want to begin this post by saying that even though I usually get super duper excited when sharing music videos with you, this particular video makes me SO excited it makes me want to shout a random, catchy, old-fashioned phrase...Like say, "leaping lizards!"... Every time I listen to this song, I suddenly feel like I'm leaping gracefully from cloud to cloud, beaming even brighter than the Sun shining above me and warming my heart, as I slowly savor a honey lavender ice cream cone that's decorated like art work, with mini gummy bears and dark chocolate syrup. Then that entire image becomes even sweeter by Harry Connick, Jr's honey-drizzling voice that makes my heart sing even more. I hope the tune gives you the same feeling...Not that you must be eating the same flavor of ice cream, nor would you really have to imagine yourself floating in the sky. But I'd be surprised if you were completely aware of what you were doing or thinking before this song started, after it came to its sweet-like-macaroons-and-late-night-car-ride-adventures finish. ;) Enjoy! ~~MC Hello there!
I decided to post this song as today's Life au Cochon...as your 4 minutes of extra joy. ;D This song was among the many others (or really, all of them entirely) on OneRepublic's latest album that helped me get through writing my Art History paper yesterday (the same one mentioned in my Artistic Appetite post for today) ...Especially because I was working on the essay for 6 hours straight which at one point exhausted me by the minute! XD ...So in a way, the song gives you an extra burst of energy when you need it. Though I do urge everyone to listen to the entire album as I think OneRepublic is one of the best musical groups (one of the best ever!), this particular song has the sort of upbeat character that's not too obvious..Which is quite refreshing if you ask me. :) So sit back and watch the animated waterfall come alive before you! Au revoir, ~~MC 3/24/2011 0 Comments Animated WaterfallLast night, I downloaded the new CD (the album title is Waking Up) by OneRepublic, one of my favorite artists. I find musicians to be one of the most inspiring people, and when it comes to this particular band, their imagination is so empowering that it goes beyond your definition of what music is meant or expected to be. (This is especially true if you've ever seen them in concert, which I did last October--And it was amazing!!). So I decided to post a little piece of escapism for you, 4-or-so minutes of being transported into another world that you may never want to part ways from. ...And I apologize for the first few seconds of the video...The male announcer voice is a bit creepy, but I couldn't find another video of the song that has the album cover as the accompanying image! Enjoy, and Happy Thursday! ~~MC P.S. When I listen to any of their songs, I love to imagine that the picture of the album cover comes to life, with its bright and vivid colors springing upward and out like an animated waterfall...Then, with that imagination, I'd like to think of OneRepublic even more as an other-worldly, out-of-this-world unique band. :) P.P.S. Interesting fact: The album cover was designed by a former member of O.R. while he was in Seattle! ...Now there's something for Seattle-ites to get super excited about! 1/14/2011 0 Comments Clouds & Root Beer Floats...I am so excited, this is my first post for "Life au Cochon"! ...And it is actually also my first ever post for the entire Mademoiselle Cochon website, so you must feel lucky. ;D It's a little strange because it is no longer like my Here It Goes blogging site, where I only had one set of blogs...Hmm, I guess in time I will get used to it. :) And just to remind you, as I already mentioned in the "How it Started" page, this is where I will be sharing little ways to enjoy life! Here, I have posted the music video of a song that I've recently been obsessing over; in case you have not heard of it (which would be surprising because they are playing it everywhere!), it is "Rhythm of Love" by Plain White T's...As soon as I noticed how differently the band sounded compared to their first hit "Hey There Delilah," I did some research (aka, I looked them up on Wikipedia) and found out that they changed the lead singer to someone else..Which I actually don't mind, because this guy's voice is more outspoken and yet so sweet! So here you go, my first tip to make your day today ten times greater: Watch this music video (if not, at least listen to the song), because it will make you feel like you're floating on a cloud..while sipping on an overflowing root beer float with your sweetie! Enjoy! ~~MC |
